Iconic London-Based Skater Brand Opens First New York City Shop at 49 Howard Street in Space Arranged by Eastern Consolidated
NEW YORK, NY – July 12, 2017 – Palace, the iconic London-based skateboard and skater clothing brand, has opened its first New York City shop at 49 Howard Street in SoHo in a 3,000-square-foot ground floor space arranged by Eastern Consolidated’s Retail Leasing Division.
Harris Bulow, Senior Director of Eastern Consolidated represented Palace in securing the 15-year lease for the space, which also includes a 2,000-square-foot basement. The landlord, 307 Canal Street Retail Partners, LLC, was represented in house.
“It was a real pleasure working with Palace,” Bulow said. “The owners are incredibly fun and creative and they know exactly what their brand represents to their acolytes. It was Howard near Mercer or bust, where they knew the space could be original and fit the store’s vibe.”
Founded in 2010, Palace is one of the most sought-after streetwear brands in the world. Palace’s clothing line is most known for its supersized logo, and features streetwear classics including sweaters, graphic tees, snap-back caps, and other colorful outerwear, often created in collaboration with renowned fashion, skateboarding, urban wear, and cult designers.
Bulow said, “We know that every new clothing season, there are long lines for blocks around Palace’s London store. While I didn’t doubt it would be similar in New York City, I was still pretty shocked, when I arrived at the SoHo store four days after its opening to see a rather large police presence and a line outside the store that went to Mercer then most of the way to Grand Street.”
Well known, also, for its cutting-edge videos, Jonah Hill showed up again to do another tongue-firmly-in-cheek video, which generated tremendous social media buzz about the opening of the new SoHo location https://www.palaceskateboards.com/palace-new-york-city/.
