David Schechtman has completed more than $3.4 billion of transactions at Eastern Consolidated. 

Prior to joining Eastern, Mr. Schechtman practiced law in the New York Office of DLA Piper Rudnick Gray Cary US LLP. At Piper, Mr. Schechtman represented clients in all phases of commercial and property litigation and bankruptcy and negotiated complex settlements on behalf of a diverse range of clients including major corporations and individual property owners. 

Mr. Schechtman is widely regarded as a leader in Manhattan and Brooklyn real estate deals and note sales. In addition to the sale of thousands of unsold shares and condo packages, Mr. Schechtman regularly represents venerable institutions like U.S. Bank, Capital One, The Parkoff Organization, Aion Partners and dozens more. He also leads Eastern Consolidated’s Loan Sales and Turnaround Services Group, which is focused on the sale of First Mortgages, Participations, Mezzanine Loans, Real Property and arranging Equity Placement linked to financial distress or restructuring. He works with lenders, attorneys, trustees, and turnaround advisors in maximizing the value of real property-pre and post-foreclosure and/or bankruptcy filing. 

Mr. Schechtman was recognized by The Real Deal as a "Titan" and  one of the "25 Most Visible New York City Real Estate Players Post-Credit Crunch"; The Commercial Observer as a "Power Broker" and one of the "20 to Watch in 2012"; NYInc as one of the "15 People You Should Know"; Real Estate Weekly as one of the "City’s Rising Stars" and named Eastern Consolidated’s 2011 Broker of the Year. 

Mr. Schechtman is a member of The Real Estate Board of New York, the Real Property Sections of the New York County Lawyers’ and the New York State Bar Associations, the Turnaround Management Association, the Mortgage Bankers Association of New York and the New York Institute of Credit. He donates his time to City Harvest and Companions in Courage, two New York based charities.

Mr. Schechtman graduated from the University of Delaware with a degree in Political Science and also attended La Universidad de Granada, Spain. He received his Juris Doctor degree Magna Cum Laude from the Benjamin Cardozo School of Law. He is fluent in Spanish.
