Ari J. Schwartz is an Associate Director and specializes in the sale and acquisition of commercial properties throughout the metropolitan area.
Prior to Eastern Consolidated, Mr. Schwartz was an Associate at the law firm of Teitelbaum & Baskin, LLP. His practice focused in the areas of bankruptcy, financial restructuring, debtors’ and creditors’ rights, as well as real estate and commercial litigation. As an attorney, Mr. Schwartz regularly advised both institutional lenders and individual creditors in connection with Chapter 7, 11 & 13 bankruptcy matters, including among other things, the enforcement of promissory notes, personal guaranties and mortgage obligations, as well as the recovery and defense of preferential and fraudulent transfers.
Mr. Schwartz graduated from Emory University with a degree in Economics. He received his Juris Doctor degree from Brooklyn Law School and his LL.M. in Bankruptcy from St. John’s University School of Law. Mr. Schwartz is admitted to the Bar of the State of New York, the State of New Jersey, and the United States District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York and the District of New Jersey. His article The Curious Case of Section 502(b)(2) and Original Issue Discount, analyzing the ability to recover claims in bankruptcy arising from debt securities issued at an original discount, is published in Norton Annual Survey of Bankruptcy Law, 2011 Ed.
